Alloy Precision Technologies is redefining industrial manufacturing through bold investments in smart technology

Founded in 1935 as a welding, brazing and soldering house, Alloy Precision Technologies (Alloy) has evolved through four owners and a diverse history into a leading provider of industrial bellows and bellow assemblies for power generation, petrochemical, aerospace, and defense sectors. Today, Alloy is on a journey of change and innovation, having invested more than $4 million in new equipment and technologies in the past few years.

President and CEO Michael Canty shares more about Alloy’s ongoing evolution. “Our primary emphasis is high-quality, precision industrial bellows and bellows assemblies, but we also offer standalone products and services, including welding, brazing, and soldering as contract services for aerospace & defense markets,” Michael opens. “Our precision CNC machining services are delivered across more than 40 modern CNC and Swiss machines, and our ‘Tubular Designs’ branded thin-walled, seamed tubing is sold to motor, fuel cell, aerospace, and other industrial markets.

“We have recently developed a wholly owned subsidiary, Production Pulse LLC, which provides production analytic and machine monitoring software internally. Shortly, this state-of-the-art analytic software will be available for significant revenue-enhancing licensing. Production Pulse Modules include ShopPulse, Indus-trial Internet of Things (IIoT) machine monitoring production analytics; ProgramPulse, for fully secured, CMMC Compliant, CNC/PLC program use and control; and InspectionPulse for data analytics of inspection processes.

“Developed for use throughout Alloy on all types of equipment, not just CNC machines, our new Production Pulse software is integrated into both scheduling and ERP systems to provide a comprehensive view of performance and production analytics,” Michael adds. “We’re soon to bring these technologies to the wider market, and the software’s ability to work on all types of equipment and ERP systems has been very well received in early market presentations.”

In terms of manufacturing, Alloy occupies a 73,000-square-foot facility, with a 10,000-square-foot expansion underway. “Our third building is progressing well, and we expect completion by the end of September 2026,” Michael explains. “This facility will provide a more efficient organization and expansion of our maintenance and bar stock inventory and processing functions, and open growth space for Swiss and CNC operations, and larger bellows expansion.”

Strategy

When we last spoke to Michael in 2025, he shared details about Alloy’s digital transformation strategy, with AI and other emerging technologies taking center stage. “We operate a high degree of custom equipment and processes, and the implementation of innovative and advanced manufacturing is part of our culture,” he explains. “We’re now using optical laser technology to inspect component parts, and cobots to enhance accuracy and efficiency by replacing repetitive manual functions. We’ve also developed custom laser equipment to accurately trim, cut, and seal component parts, as well as proprietary software to create and print the requirement certification for shipments in ten percent of the time taken by manual work.

“In fact, Alloy just won the Best of Tech 2025 for manufacturing in Northeast Ohio for its focus on advanced manufacturing and innovative equipment and processes. We prioritize investment in modern, of-ten custom equipment that enables us to provide state-of-the-art and competitive results both domestically and overseas, as well as making continual improvements in our processes, from customer service to shipping. These new technologies place us in a strong position within our OEM customer base, as these clients value our long-term focus on organization, cleanliness, and technology.

“Investments in these technologies and equipment also help us compete for the best available talent,” Michael says. “Younger generations thrive on emerging technologies and ongoing training to stay engaged and further develop their careers. As customer demand continues to grow, we must hire new people and retain our existing talent, as these are the people who will carry Alloy forward in the long term.”

On the topic of employment, we ask Michael about Alloy’s company culture and approach to professional development. “I might be biased, but our culture is exceptional,” he laughs. “Driven by our core values of teamwork, innovation, passion, accountability, and service, our culture is at the heart of everything we do – our conference rooms are even named after these core values. In terms of employees, we provide strong benefits, great training schemes, and offer internal promotion wherever possible. We host several company events each year, such as holiday parties and summer picnics, to maintain employee engagement.

“We’ve always been passionate about training, but we’ve recently formalized our processes to create a unified framework for future leaders, with modules on how to lead a team, motivate staff, and find new and improved ways of working. For new employees, they all undergo a comprehensive, company-wide onboarding process before being trained for their specific roles.”

With several investments underway to enhance efficiency, boost productivity, and introduce market-leading software under Production Pulse, Alloy’s digital transformation is truly taking shape. “For 2026, we’re focused on full market implementation of Production Pulse, alongside our new institutionalized leadership training regimen,” Michael says. “We’re also targeting growth in the aerospace and defense markets, and we’ve obtained the necessary certifications like NADCAP and the development of CMMC IP protections. We’ve also hired a new business development manager to target these sectors, and we’ve al-ready won some exciting projects such as a bellows assembly for the Halo Space Station.

“We’re expecting to grow by 32 percent in internal revenue this year, and we’ll continue to invest in the necessary equipment and facilities to meet increased demand moving forwards,” Michael concludes. “As we continue to grow, we remain driven by a simple yet dedicated mission to be bigger, better, stronger, and a leader in advanced manufacturing technology.”
