An international leader in heating, ventilation and air conditioning, The Carver Group is committed to a sustainable future

Boasting a strong industrial heritage, The Carver Group was established in Walsall in the UK in 1776. What started as a manufacturer of whips for the carriage industry has evolved over the ensuing 249 years into an international business managing a portfolio of brands that design, manufacture, and install innovative heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) solutions.

Still under the experienced eye of the Carver family, and with the eighth generation now at the helm, the business works across a wide range of markets, including commercial, retail, industry, and the public sector.

With its headquarters remaining in Walsall where the story began, the Group now has representation in 50 countries, with manufacturing facilities in Cambridge, Ontario; Ilminster, Somerset; Nuneaton, Warwickshire; Kootstertille, Holland; and its own sales offices in Germany, France, the Netherlands, and Canada.

The businesses that comprise The Carver Group – Applied Comfort, Biddle, Carver Clamps, Cooltherm, Powrmatic, SPC, Thermoscreens, and Widney Leisure – create products such as air curtains, fan coils, packaged terminal air conditioners, heating, cooling and ventilation systems, radiant panels, fan convectors, trench heating and cooling, welding tables, clamps as well as manufacture heating and cooling coils. Standing out thanks to the ability to provide innovative ways to heat, cool, and decarbonize buildings, these divisions benefit greatly from the Group’s central research and development, manufacturing and project management competence centers.

Furthermore, the Group also has a consultancy and installation company, Cubist, which guides grocery retailers on how best to improve energy efficiency and the quality of air comfort in their buildings. In 2018, the Group acquired Cooltherm, a specialist HVAC system design and installation business focused on high-performance heat pump and chiller solutions. Beyond delivering bespoke HVAC turnkey solutions tailored to complex and demanding environments including commercial, industrial and specialist applications, Cooltherm also offers energy efficient, low-carbon technologies.

To maintain its reputation as an innovative organization, The Carver Group does not restrict itself to in-house expertise but also works closely with third parties. Its research and development team co-operates with technical associations, universities and research institutes to turn the latest technologies into customer-oriented solutions. This has enabled the Group to develop advanced and innovative climate solutions time after time.

Currently, the Carver Group’s NPD teams are looking at ways to deliver more innovative product technology delivering maximum energy efficiency and improved air comfort. This focus on efficiency stands as a priority across the heating, ventilation and air conditioning sector, tying in as it does to the overall sustainability agenda and the need for all organizations to improve their green credentials.

The Carver Group is committed to setting the standard in energy efficient HVAC solutions, delivering unmatched air quality and comfort at the best value whilst enhancing the well-being of its customers and the sustainability of the planet.

In fact, over its history, The Carver Group has developed some revolutionary technologies and integrated them into its products, which has resulted in significant CO2 reductions within the HVAC industry. According to its website: “We protect the environment by working, where possible, with environmentally friendly materials, using long-life components and by delivering products with a low energy consumption. Monitoring product performance helps us gain insight into consumption patterns and realize the extent to which energy savings and CO2 reductions can be maximized.”

This environmental approach of course extends to its own operations, with the Group strictly adhering to the Environmental Management System BS EN ISO14001, the most important international standard pertaining to the environment. Its sustainability strategy is built on reducing waste, optimizing energy use to reduce carbon emissions and sustainable sourcing from suppliers who share its commitment to protecting the environment.

All products are designed with energy efficiency in mind and with the introduction of eco-friendly controls, end users can benefit from increased energy saving and climate enhancing innovation. This guarantees that everything created by the Group is underpinned by its commitment to preventing pollution, providing product quality and optimal performance. This is supported by accreditation to the Quality Management System BS EN ISO9001.

While this sustainability journey is ongoing, the Group is dedicated to making continuous improvements in its path to Net Zero, maintaining responsible business practices to protect the environment, supporting communities, and promoting economic viability. Together, with employees, customers, and partners, it is working towards a sustainable future for all.

As it approaches its 250th year in operation, The Carver Group stands committed to offering state-of-the-art technology that creates healthier, more comfortable indoor environments. With its strategy designed to broaden its impact and deliver even more innovative, high-performance solutions to meet the unique needs of customers, The Carver Group remains committed to excellence and delivering complete HVAC system solutions to its customers. Supplying an expanding range of HVAC products and services, delivering high profitability and growth within a sound financial environment, and through its presence on HVAC standards committees, the Group looks set to continue shaping the future of the industry.

In the words of Aidan Killeen, Group Chief Executive, The Carver Group has developed businesses that put the customer and employees at the center of their thinking. “As the needs of our customers change, we are committed to evolve and grow at a sensible and sustainable pace in order to meet their needs, by developing an expanding range of high-quality products and services.”
