As a trusted partner across diverse sectors, Propak Sheet Metal has a comprehensive approach to manufacturing

Established in 1977, Propak Sheet Metal Ltd (Propak) has grown to be a market leader in the supply of complete precision sheet metal solutions. With skilled engineers, state-of-the-art technology, and extensive in-house capabilities, Propak strives to provide efficient service and exceptional quality for every customer.

Given Propak’s experience and expertise, the company boasts long-term client relationships, and its scalable production processes can reduce lead times and provide timely deliveries for customers. Its capabilities are split into four key areas: manufacturing, fine limit sheet metal and fabrication, surface finishing, and KANBAN stock holding.

Firstly, in terms of manufacturing, Propak assists with prototype and product design, offering advanced AS9100 manufacturing, sheet metal fabrication, product integration and assembly. When it comes to sheet metal and fabrication, its capabilities include laser cutting, bush insertion, CNC punching, MIG and TIG welding, and metal folding and forming.

Within its surface finishing capabilities, Propak offers painting and surface treatments, powder coating, and part marking and engraving, as well as 80 electro plating processes. In fact, 13,000 square feet of Propak’s 80,000-square-foot site is dedicated to electro plating, which houses 45 tanks to allow the business to provide a combination of 80 different processes to comply with various specifications.

Lastly, through its KANBAN storage warehouse and ERP system, Propak offers product lifecycle management once a customer’s products are designed and being manufactured. This provides an added benefit for customers, as they can have products priced and manufactured against their EAU, shortening both lead times and costs, as well as eliminating the need for in-house storage.

As a trusted and often preferred OEM supplier, Propak works in several industries and sectors, including aerospace, defense and military, rail, electronic, digital signage, rail, science and medical, telecommunications, and print imagery.

Understanding the complexities facing the rail industry, Propak provides fully compliant products and assemblies in a range of paint or metal finishes, including the manufacturing of stainless-steel entrance barriers and ticketing machines for Transport for London and the London Underground.

When it comes to aerospace, defense, and military customers, Propak’s AS 9100 accreditation underpins the safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance of all products. From design to manufacture, Propak produces components for both commercial and civil aircraft, offering a single-source solution for world-leading companies.

Collaborative culture

Another market that requires precise compliance is science and medicine. From medical trolleys to monitoring and screening equipment, Propak provides integral products used in scientific research and medical treatments around the world.

With roots in the print and imaging industry, today the business continues to design and manufacture precision parts for well-known household names like Fujifilm. On the other hand, Propak also offers an end-to-end scalable service for the digital display sector, which can meet the most imaginative design brief in an ever-evolving market. Its experienced engineers have been involved with some major projects on behalf of JCDecaux, as well as one of the largest international digital signage deployments, which saw Propak deliver 1400 consoles to the US and Australia within six weeks of receiving the order.

Putting quality and delivery performance at the forefront of a successful operation, Propak never compromises on safety, compliance, or quality. This translates to its company culture, where every member of the team is engaged in Propak’s mission, empowered to meet customer requirements, and understands their responsibility in achieving business objectives.

A quote from Mohamed Saad, QHSE Manager, on Propak’s website perfectly summarizes the company’s approach to collaboration and culture: “Here at Propak we look for opportunity to improve in everything we do, we work closely with our partners and always welcome constructive feedback. Having the right processes and equipment is good, but the key for our success is having the right team with the right set of skills.”

Commitment to quality

To ensure quality, Propak’s quality assurance (QA) department is heavily involved in every stage of a project, from technical requirement reviews at the quotation stage to final inspection and after-sales support. The business is constantly evaluating the efficiency of its quality management system and processes to ensure it fully encapsulates customer requirements and specifications.

Propak also offers a wide range of in-house process validation and testing, including quality and project specific plans, full material traceability, non-destructive testing, corrosion resistance, and conductivity testing, as well as providing customers with a Certificate of Conformance. With such commitment to quality in mind, Propak invests heavily in new equipment like CMM machines, Faro measuring arms, profile projectors, and inspection instruments or technology to ensure it can solve the most complex and demanding projects.

Considering Propak’s commitment to quality and precision, it is no surprise that the company has grown to occupy a leading position as a trusted partner in several diverse sectors spanning aerospace, defense, medical, and digital signage. Continuing to drive innovation and maintain a robust focus on safety and quality, Propak is sure to drive excellence across these industries moving forwards.
