As backup power demand surges, regional expansion is fueling nationwide growth for Fidelity Manufacturing

Providing superior solutions, high-quality products, and exceptional customer service, Fidelity Manufacturing (Fidelity) delivers generator packaging projects that provide backup power for critical applications like hospitals, retail stores, industrial buildings, and data centers. Founded in 2014, Fidelity has evolved into a full-service solutions provider for generator packages, including enclosures, fuel tanks, and stairs and platforms. Today, the company has established a strong reputation as a top-quality vendor.

“We keep power on when it’s needed most, building fuel tanks and enclosures for standby generators,” opens CEO Mitchell (Mitch) Twardosky. “For diesel powered generators, we build fuel tanks, but for gas powered generators, we build the subbase the engine sits on. In both cases, we provide an enclosure for the entire generator and connect all the electrical components inside. We’re a full-service packager, meaning we not only manufacture products but also provide all the components for entry and exit systems, for inside the enclosure, and to connect a system, as well as offering on-site testing for gas and diesel engines. These package options provide customers with ready-to-install products. They are designed to fit seamlessly with the generator for quick setup and operation.

“When the business was founded, we had 28 people with experience spanning sales, engineering, and manufacturing. In contrast, we currently employ more than 500 people. Although there’s a well-documented labor shortage across several industries in the US, we’re fortunate to have a team of excellent people across our organization. We strive to create a company culture that honors their contributions to the business.”

While Fidelity is passionate about supporting its employees, this commitment also extends to the local community. “We have a servant leadership style across the company,” Mitch says, “We recognize that our success is due to the hard work and effort of every single team member. Our founder, Brad Dinkins, is also the chairman and founder of Helping Hands, a nonprofit charity that supports people in difficult situations.”

Expanding projects

Aside from community support, the company is expanding its geographical presence through regional plants – testament to Fidelity’s growth since its foundation in 2014. “Our projects can vary from simple $100,000 packages to projects worth as much as $1 million,” Mitch continues. “The products we sell are extremely large and heavy, from our high-performance line of customized enclosures to sealed secondary containment subbase tanks. These products require specialist logistics and transportation services, which we offer to our customers alongside other logistics services such as generator collection.

“To be closer to our customers and help with transportation costs, we’ve started to establish regional plants, with our first currently underway in Texas. We’ve experienced a lot of demand for work in the Texas area, so that drove our decision to expand into a 200,000-square-foot site in Waco. This centrally located site not only enables us to service the Texas market but also other regions in the West. As the news of our new plant spreads, we’ve found ourselves getting calls from prospective customers as far west as California, as we can better serve their needs from our Texas location.”

As the business continues to grow, Mitch is passionate about staying one step ahead of customer needs. “We have a dedicated service team to support packages across the entire country, but we also emphasize listening to our customers to ensure we provide solutions that address their specific needs and pain points,” Mitch explains. “We take all customer feedback into account, which is given to our R&D team to incorporate into our products and designs.”

To prepare for further growth, Fidelity has recently invested in new software systems to strengthen its internal processes. “We implemented an extensive software program at the end of last year, so we’re continuing to master new processes to utilize our software to its full capabilities,” Mitch says. “We’re also improving other processes as we aim to address what we refer to as the hyperscalers gap by being prepared for larger projects. It’s not just about being able to take on bigger projects but being able to provide the same standards of quality and service on a larger scale.”

The new regional plant in Waco plays a key role in these growth ambitions. “In five years, we hope our Texas plant will be operational and running at full capacity,” Mitch states. “Over the coming years, we’re also supporting the construction of local daycares and affordable housing near the Texas plant for our team members, so it would be great to see those efforts come to fruition. We’re also aiming to achieve more ISO certifications – ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 – over the next two-to-three years. Alongside these goals, we’ll continue to protect our company culture to ensure we maintain our friendly, open atmosphere despite growth.

“It’s an exciting time to be in the backup power industry because it’s growing rapidly and showing no signs of slowing. We’re blessed to be part of that growth and increasingly help companies or organizations to protect backup power to ensure it’s there when it matters most.”
