“ArtiFlex is an end-to-end automotive, aerospace and defense, and industrial supplier that provides tooling, stamping, casting, automation, and prototyping,” begins Rand Stille, President and Chief Operating Officer. “We have the unique ability to take a project from design to production with an unmatched speed to market due to our alignment of capabilities. “We have the premier tooling team with our Grand Rapids Tooling Group and Hercules Tooling Group,” he elaborates. “Collectively they provide a spectrum of solutions including full domestic build capabilities and offshore tooling solutions. Our Manufacturing Group, provides stamping, hemming, laser cutting, welding, assembly and e-coating for both production and service programs.
“AutoMatrix provides advanced automation, robotics, and assembly equipment. Our Aerospace, Defense, & Prototype (ADP) team provides advanced metal forming and prototypes to the aviation, aerospace, defense and automotive industries. And with the addition of Falcon Lakeside (Falcon), we now provide a full solution of tooling, prototype and production within the high pressure die casting industry. It’s an outstanding array of capabilities from one company.”

Celebrating the company’s 15th anniversary, Rand shares his thoughts on the factors that have enabled this success. “Since the company was founded in 2011, the biggest factor has been the strength of our team. We have a world class team that drives innovation every day. The name ArtiFlex is a combination of artisan and flexible. That really captures how our team attacks every challenge. They are experts with a deep knowledge of their crafts and at the same time remain flexible to find the best innovative solution.”
Falcon aquisition
ArtiFlex’s recent acquisition of Falcon, a premier high-pressure vacuum casting company based in Michigan, is a perfect example of the company’s innovation and adaptability, as Francis (Frank) Sant, Vice President of Castings, explains.
“Falcon brings casting technologies to the ArtiFlex family,” he says. “By having multiple manufacturing processes available to our customers, we can ensure that our customers are given the optimum solution rather than just the solution we can sell.”
With a growing portfolio of manufacturing technologies and an expanding network of specialized operations, ArtiFlex is well-equipped to serve the world’s most demanding sectors.
“Being on the front edge of technology is critical to our mission,” Rand details. “We have invested in and developed several differentiating technologies. In particular, our tooling simulation is key to providing our customers with ideas and feedback. It also allows us to significantly cut costs and timing out of the tool builds by avoiding unnecessary quality loops or adjustments. When we can stamp the very first parts of a tool with 95 percent of the tolerance points met due to our superior simulation capabilities, it limits the amount of time and costs required for adjustments.
“Another great example is our virtual commissioning within our automation teams,” he continues. “After developing the process and the equipment design, we generate a digital twin for process simulations within a virtual model. This helps the team identify potential interference points, optimize material flow, validate cycle times, recognize operational efficiency improvements, and reduce the install time. All these benefits to our customers help differentiate our automation teams from the competition.
“At the same time, we are moving from just experimenting with AI to scaling it to a transformational impact. We have built up our internal AI team, developed a steering committee, and established a step-by-step strategy. There are limitless opportunities, so laying out a vision to guide the efforts has been essential.”
Furthermore, the company’s move into aerospace and defense was made significantly easier by the addition of a highly experienced team. “We were able to very quickly add a team with full capability and experience,” he explains. “This team was spun out of a previous entity, and we were delighted to bring them into the ArtiFlex team. It has been a surprisingly seamless transition due to their efforts and the local leadership of the group. Additionally, the customers recognized our ADP team as a top-tier performer. So, retaining the takeover business and quickly growing with other customers was possible.”
Beyond strengthening capabilities, the expansion also accelerated the company’s development in key compliance and certification areas. The ADP team’s expertise helped advance processes and standards across the wider organization, reinforcing ArtiFlex’s position in the sector and supporting its long-term growth ambitions.
“There are several steps that the ADP team helped advance within ArtiFlex. We are now ITAR and AS9100 certified while also advancing on our CMMC journey,” Rand shares. “The aerospace defense industry is a perfect fit for ArtiFlex given our diverse array of capabilities and innovative approach. The focus is simply on growth and execution. It has really been a phenomenal addition to our family of companies.”
As it marks 15 years of innovation and achievement, ArtiFlex remains dedicated to pushing boundaries, strengthening partnerships, and delivering the next generation of manufacturing solutions.
“We have been awarded several great programs and are happy with our position within the market. Customers continue to see our value proposition with being an innovative solution provider as a major benefit to their supply chain,” Rand adds. “So, we are blessed with the growth being generated. Therefore, we are laser focused on execution of these programs.
“We are investigating several new technologies that we expect to have implemented including our initiative for AI transformation. This will help further differentiate our solution for low-to-mid volume production programs. At the same time, we expect to be advancing into the next generation of tool building looking at more automation, AI assistance and further advancements in simulation. Finally, we truly expect that our value proposition of having a full array of capabilities will ignite our growth in the aerospace, defence, and high pressure die casting industries. It’s going to be an exciting several years!
“Importantly, ArtiFlex became an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) in 2024,” he concludes. “Having all the employees focused on increasing the value of the company, because they are owners too, increases collaboration, idea generation and engagement. It is game changing when a powerful team is fully aligned.”
