Continuous investment in people, technology, and customization is fueling Lockers Manufacturing’s long-term success

Lockers Manufacturing (LockersMFG) is an American-owned and operated custom-engineered solutions provider serving a diverse range of markets, including education, athletics, healthcare, military, first responders, Fortune 500 companies, and commercial and industrial customers across the United States and internationally.

Founded in 2014 by CEO Keith Dunham, the company has grown into a leading domestic manufacturer of smart lockers, parcel lockers, asset lockers, electrical enclosures, AI computer storage cabinets, and other specialized safety, security, and storage solutions.

Headquartered in Batesville, Mississippi, LockersMFG employs more than 150 people and operates a manufacturing campus exceeding 300,000 square feet, with significant expansion underway to support continued growth and investment in American manufacturing.

While steel remains an important part of its product portfolio, the company’s capabilities extend far beyond traditional metal lockers. Through its engineering expertise and advanced manufacturing capabilities, LockersMFG designs and produces solutions using a wide range of materials, including solid surface, HDPE, phenolic, wood, plastic laminate, veneers, and other premium finishes to meet the specific requirements of each customer and application.

Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all approach, LockersMFG works closely with customers to develop tailored solutions that address real-world challenges across a variety of environments. From educational and athletic facilities to critical infrastructure, healthcare, defense, and commercial applications, the company combines design expertise, manufacturing flexibility, and a commitment to quality to deliver products built around the needs of the people who use them.

“I’ve always felt like I was born into this industry,” Keith shares. “Growing up around the business gave me a practical understanding of everything from installation and assembly to the operational side of manufacturing, and later I combined that experience with what I learned working for Fortune 500 companies. That gave me the confidence to start LockersMFG from the ground up and build it brick by brick.

“From the beginning, the goal wasn’t to create another traditional locker company. We saw ourselves as being in the security storage solutions business, using lockers as the platform to solve much broader challenges. Our focus has always been on innovation, customization, and delivering products that fit exactly what customers need, rather than asking them to adapt to a standard offering. We’ve worked hard to build a business that’s responsive to the market, committed to great service, and willing to engineer solutions that others won’t. That’s been a big part of what has allowed us to grow.”

The company serves a wide range of industries, each with its own unique requirements. It works extensively with schools and athletic facilities, healthcare providers, the electrical sector, military organizations, and technology companies, developing solutions that are tailored to the specific needs of each application. That diversity has allowed it to build deep expertise across multiple markets while maintaining a highly flexible approach.

“One of our biggest strengths is our ability to engineer and manufacture using virtually any material or technology our customers require,” Keith elaborates. “Whether it’s integrating smart technology, advanced access control, lighting, specialized finishes, or custom materials, we focus on creating solutions that fit the customer’s environment. That commitment to quality, customization, and continuous investment in our manufacturing capabilities has enabled us to support everything from critical infrastructure and data centers to healthcare and defense applications.”

Building a modern manufacturing business has required continuous investment; not just in equipment, but in the right people and partners who believe in the long-term vision of manufacturing in the United States. “We’re proud to produce our products here,” Keith enthuses, “and we’ve worked hard to build a business model that supports ongoing investment in both our facilities and our capabilities.

“Over the years, we’ve transformed our operations through automation and digital technology. From robotic welding and automated finishing systems to a fully paperless production environment, we’ve focused on improving efficiency, quality, and accuracy at every stage of the manufacturing process. Real-time production tracking and integrated CRM systems allow us to monitor every order from fabrication through shipment, helping us deliver a consistently high level of service while continuing to scale our operations.”

Keith believes the best solutions are developed in partnership with customers. Whether working with architects, general contractors, or end users, the team gets involved early in the design process to help improve functionality, manage budgets, and identify opportunities to make products more efficient without compromising quality, safety, or performance.

“Our philosophy is simple: design every product as if the customer is sitting at the table with us,” he explains. “By listening carefully and incorporating feedback from the outset, we’re able to deliver solutions that meet expectations from concept through to installation.

“Looking ahead, we’re continuing to invest in the future of the business through expanded manufacturing capacity and long-term strategic growth. Every investment we make is guided by a long-term vision; building the right foundation, expanding responsibly, and ensuring we have the people, facilities, and capabilities to support our customers for decades to come.

“Our culture,” Keith continues, “is built around one simple principle: people must care. We look for individuals who are committed not only to doing great work, but also to supporting one another and contributing to the team’s success. That’s why we invest as much in developing our culture as we do in developing the technical skills of our excellent staff. We want people to build long-term careers here, with clear opportunities to learn, grow, and advance in whatever direction suits their ambitions. By listening to our teammates and helping them shape their own career paths, we’ve created an environment where people are engaged, accountable, and invested in the company’s success.

“As a leader, I’ve learned that resilience and unity are critical to building a successful manufacturing business. There will always be challenges, but the key is staying focused on the mission, adapting when circumstances change, and solving problems together rather than in silos. I see leadership as a form of service; my role is to equip our people with the resources, support, and direction they need to succeed. When you build strong relationships, empower your team, and pursue excellence every day, sustainable growth becomes the natural outcome.”

While American manufacturing has certainly faced its share of challenges, it’s continuing to evolve, driven by advances in technology, automation, and digital manufacturing. “Today’s facilities bear little resemblance to the traditional image of a factory,” Keith shares. “They require technical skills, problem-solving, and a workforce that’s comfortable working alongside increasingly sophisticated equipment.

“One of the biggest opportunities lies in bringing different generations together. Experienced teammates have invaluable practical knowledge to share, while younger workers often bring fresh perspectives and strong digital skills. By creating a culture of mentoring and continuous learning, manufacturers can preserve critical expertise while embracing new technologies. That’s how the industry will continue to innovate, remain competitive, and build a strong foundation for the next generation of American manufacturing.”

One of the most encouraging trends in US manufacturing is the renewed interest in engineering, technical education, and skilled trades. Vocational and engineering programs are regaining momentum, and that’s creating a stronger pipeline of talent for the industry. At the same time, manufacturers have an important role to play in introducing young people to the opportunities available in modern manufacturing through partnerships with schools, apprenticeships, and hands-on learning experiences.

“From a business perspective,” Keith elaborates, “we’re also seeing significant differences in how states support manufacturing growth. Those that invest in workforce development, technical education, and a strong business environment are attracting more industrial investment and creating the conditions for long-term success. As we continue to expand, those factors play an important role in shaping where and how we invest, ensuring we’re positioned in regions that share our commitment to the future of American manufacturing.”

Looking to the future, Keith shares that his priorities for the remainder of 2026 are to continue improving speed, quality, and reliability. “We’re investing in expanded manufacturing capacity and refining our processes to reduce lead times while maintaining the high standards our customers expect,” he explains. “As we grow, consistency remains just as important as speed, and we’re committed to delivering both. Continuous improvement in quality control and operational excellence will remain central to everything we do.

“Looking further ahead, every decision we make is guided by a long-term perspective. We invest in equipment, facilities, and technology with decades, not just years, in mind, ensuring we have the flexibility to adapt as customer and market needs evolve. Our goal is to build a business that can continue to innovate, scale across the markets we serve, and remain an industry leader for generations. That means creating a strong foundation today while maintaining the agility to meet the changing demands of tomorrow. Our culture and employees power our success.

“Our success is built on the dedication of our people. Every achievement reflects the commitment, expertise, and teamwork of teammates across the organization, and we’re grateful for the trust our customers place in us year after year. Strong partnerships with our team, our customers, and our suppliers have been fundamental to our growth.

“As we continue to expand, we’re also mindful of the broader impact our business has on the communities where we operate. By creating manufacturing careers and investing in facilities in rural areas, we’re helping support long-term economic opportunity while strengthening American manufacturing,” he adds. “That’s a responsibility we take seriously, and it’s one that reinforces our commitment to building a resilient business that creates lasting value for our teammates, customers, and the communities we call home.

“When I started this venture, few people thought we could get this off the ground,” Keith emphasizes in closing. “This operation is built on a true partnership between our company and the local communities that support our success and help us attract great teammates. Together, we are creating a culture built on camaraderie, respect and shared ambition, while delivering outstanding products and customer service with the support of the communities around us. We all benefit from this shared commitment. By rebuilding the manufacturing base, we are helping to reignite the American dream – one teammate at a time.”
