Evtec Automotive continues making strides in the manufacturing industry, through inclusive employment opportunities and technological innovation
Specializing in the supply of complex assemblies to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), Evtec Automotive (Evtec) is committed to social impact and sustainability. Working with over 500 suppliers globally, its services include complex assembly with cutting edge technology, constructing single and multi-layer plastic pipes, injection molding of plastic components, testing and management capability and supply chain management.
Founded in 2021, the Coventry-based company was formed following the acquisition of former Remploy Automotive operations, which originated in the 1940s. Thanks to this heritage, it is a strong advocate for inclusive employment and has gone from strength-to-strength with recent contracts and digital transformations.
Managing Director, Kevin Hubbard, explains how Evtec’s inclusive employment ethos impacts the profitable business environment: “Forty-three percent of our workforce is made up of individuals with disabilities. We actively partner with local schools and colleges to offer internships to young people with disabilities, many of whom are offered the opportunity to transition into permanent roles with Evtec after graduation. We don’t receive any government support – these initiatives are entirely self-funded. I think this highlights our genuine commitment to creating opportunities. Our ambassador, Nic Hamilton, supports this mission and works closely with us to reinforce the message that disability does not limit one’s ability to succeed and thrive in the workplace.”
Lately, Evtec has secured a significant contract with another prestigious OEM which spotlights its reputation for excellence in complex manufacturing. “This new partnership involves the sourcing, assembly, supply, and testing of advanced cooling, fuel, and air management systems,” discloses Kevin. “It will allow us to leverage our in-house capabilities, cutting-edge assembly expertise, and globally integrated supply chain. Another exciting development for the company was the launch of our electric vehicle (EV) chargers in Q2 2025. Evtec Charge is engineered in the UK, and the chargers have been designed to appeal to both domestic and commercial customers. All chargers are compatible with our Evtec Charge smart charging app, which is focused on simplicity and reliability, allowing quick setup and dependable charge scheduling with smart EV tariffs or solar integration. We plan to move final assembly of the chargers to our Coventry facility in 2026, marking another significant development in our in-house manufacturing journey.”
With these developments in the EV industry arising for Evtec, Kevin states the EV revolution is inevitable, but the pace and scale of change are tempered by economic pressures, regulatory shifts, and infrastructure readiness. “Evtec identifies uncertainty as being the most significant barrier in the EV transition,” he continues. “The transition to EV is a hugely complex undertaking, not only for OEMs, but for forward-thinking suppliers such as us. A transition as significant as internal combustion engine (ICE) to EV would normally encourage immediate investment in infrastructure, services and workforces; however, whilst the initial wave of investment was strong, recent trends show a more cautious and strategic approach from industry leaders. Our position within the supply chain gives us a unique opportunity to observe these dynamics across OEMs and Tier 2 suppliers.”
Aside from EV, there are various technological advancements appearing within the industry which Evtec is embracing, allowing it to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to innovation. Kevin adds: “We are committed to continuous improvement through the research and adoption of advanced manufacturing equipment and techniques. A recent example is the successful implementation of a camera-based Poka-Yoke system, which ensures accurate identification of OK/NOK finished assemblies. Additionally, our active participation in industry events enables us to stay ahead of emerging technologies and integrate innovative solutions into our operations.
“Furthermore, we’ve recently invested in a cutting-edge 3D scanning tool. This means we can offer in-house testing and validation of products, ensuring higher quality control and precision, with reduced dependency on external providers. By eliminating the need to subcontract testing, we gain more control over timelines, and a faster turnaround supports our ability to meet increasingly demanding customer schedules. This aligns with Evtec’s broader goals of reinvestment and capability expansion.”
Continuing the theme of technology, Evtec has recently embarked on a digital transformation of its Coventry facility, which Kevin says enables the business to connect and monitor its varied manufacturing facilities in real-time. “Our main facility is built around a robust SQL-based ERP system, forming the backbone of a connected digital ecosystem,” he explains. “Real-time data flows between people, machines and systems, driving efficiency, uptime, and responsiveness across our operations. Real-time integration of performance data, OEE, and RFT with planning, job allocation, receipts, and quality inspection enables our production team to resolve issues proactively and maintain smooth, uninterrupted flow.”
Alongside inclusivity and innovation, sustainability is also high on Evtec’s list of importance. The company is actively working toward its goal of becoming a net-zero business by implementing several energy-saving measures, which Kevin expands on: “In order to reach our net-zero goals, we’ve installed solar panels at our Coventry facility to harness renewable energy, and we’ve converted to energy-efficient LED lighting, reducing overall power consumption. We also conduct monthly energy usage reviews, enabling the team to identify trends and implement targeted action plans for further reductions.”
Looking to the future, Evtec has a ‘cautious yet positive’ outlook for 2026 and beyond. “Our position within the UK automotive supply chain requires us to react and adapt quickly to the challenging demands of the industry,” concludes Kevin. “Evtec is working closely with our customer base on future business, working diligently to onboard new customers and exploring broader investment opportunities. Over the next five years, we want to strengthen our position as a leading Tier 1 supplier within the UK and global automotive supply chains, expand partnerships with leading OEMs, and explore further opportunities to expand our in-house manufacturing capabilities.
“We plan to continue the smart factory transformation which will support scalable growth and an agile response to market demands. Finally, we will continue to champion inclusive employment, developing even stronger partnerships with schools and colleges to reaffirm our long-term commitment to social responsibility.”
