Fire safety pioneers: a deep dive into the history, innovation, and success of Rapidrop Global Limited
A true pioneer in the field of fire safety, Rapidrop Global Limited (Rapidrop)’s journey is one defined by resilience, innovation, and a relentless commitment to quality. With a growing international footprint, the company plays a vital role in safeguarding some of the world’s most important buildings and infrastructure. From its headquarters in Peterborough, UK, and numerous global offices, Rapidrop manufactures and supplies a vast catalogue of state-of-the-art fire sprinkler systems and related products to over 75 countries worldwide. Over the decades, the business has garnered a stellar reputation, with a legacy spanning back over 50 years.

Rapidrop’s roots can be traced back to the 1970s with UK fastener manufacturer, Bermil Cables. Though a respected player in the UK’s fastener market, Bermil Cables’ journey grew tumultuous at the hands of ruthless competition but was saved through acquisition and later became Kestrel Fasteners in 1984. Three years later, Daniel Gill, Rapidrop’s Founder and Chairman, purchased Kestrel Fasteners and merged it with several other regional businesses, creating a new company called Industrial Fasteners International (IFI). This development sparked new energy for the organization as IFI quickly gained traction, leveraging the combined expertise and customer networks of its integrated businesses to evolve into a key partner for the UK’s leading OEMs. Now clearly directed upon an upwards trajectory, IFI continued to grow and evolve in the years that followed, expanding into high-security specialist window screws and flexible sprinkler pipe connections. In fact, the company was the first in the world to achieve LPCB approval as a Flexible Sprinkler Pipe Supplier.
By 2003, Rapidrop Limited was born. Business boomed on an international scale. Before long, Rapidrop Limited had established a firm global presence with locations across the UK, France, Spain, Turkey, the Netherlands, Quatar, India, the USA, and beyond. In 2010, IFI rebranded into Rapidrop Global Ltd to better align with the company’s primary trading role – an evolutionary shift that was illustrative of its resilience, adaptability, and commitment to innovation in the fastener and sprinkler industry.
Today, Rapidrop is a name synonymous with cutting-edge fire safety systems. The company now serves a large customer network spanning across 80 countries worldwide and is recognized globally for its exceptional quality and innovation. As a leading provider of fire sprinklers and fire suppression equipment, its comprehensive range encompasses a diverse scope of product categories – from sprinkler heads, flexible sprinkler hoses, and residential sprinkler systems through to pipes and fittings (including CPVC pipes), pump room equipment, electrical switches, fire hydrants, foam and clean agent systems, and a variety of system control pump types. In addition, Rapidrop offers a series of FloWatch technologies, since it acquired the company back in 2021, including the FloWatch Master Panel – which monitors sprinkler systems for residential and domestic environments – and the VidiaPro panel, which is a LPCB and UL certified fire control system specifically designed to cover a range of fire monitoring applications.

Manufactured in the UK
Aside from its extensive product range, another thing that sets Rapidrop apart is that all its products are designed, manufactured, and distributed in-house in the UK. With its deep understanding of the market and its fast-paced demands, Rapidrop expertly crafts each of its components to be fully interchangeable, unique, and cost-effective for a variety of different environments and installation needs. To further enhance its operational excellence, the company maintains high stock levels across all its global facilities to meet customer demand, while also delivering comprehensive installation training at each location, tailored to the local standards and best practices of the specific region.
By upholding its high quality standards, Rapidrop continues to champion precision, flexibility, and innovation across the manufacturing industry. From residential and commercial buildings to warehouses, manufacturing facilities, retail spaces, shopping centers, schools, hospitals, airports, and major entertainment and sporting venues, Rapidrop prides itself on its ability to go above and beyond to support its clients, no matter the project at hand. This recognized reliability has opened opportunities for the company to work on some of the most prestigious projects across the world, including The Shard, Wembley Stadium, and Heathrow Airport in the UK, as well as the Reykjavik Opera House in Iceland, Etihad Towers in Dubai, and the Hilton Airport in The Netherlands.
As Rapidrop looks to the future, its continued success remained rooted in the same principles that have driven its success since day one: innovation, reliability, and a customer-focused approach to fire protection. In an industry where safety, precision, and compliance are paramount, Rapidrop has consistently demonstrated its ability to evolve with changing regulations, technologies, and global market demands. By investing in research, expanding its product capabilities, and strengthening its international presence, the company ensures that it remains at the forefront of fire suppression and sprinkler system production. With its vertically integrated manufacturing model, extensive product portfolio, and reputation for dependable service, Rapidrop is well-positioned to continue shaping the future of fire safety on a global scale. As urban development accelerates and the need for robust fire protection systems becomes ever more critical, the company’s expertise and forward-thinking approach will continue set the standard for excellence worldwide.
