General Motors picks Siemens as Supplier of the Year

Siemens has now pipped competitors to the post for sought-after General Motors award six times

The German automation and technology company has once again exceeded requirements and expectations for General Motors. The award is given retrospectively, making GM’s 31st annual Supplier of the Year event a reflection on services offered throughout 2022.

The event recently took place in San Antonio, Texas.

“We are delighted by this recognition of our contribution to General Motors’ leadership in the automotive field as they work toward their goals for sustainable innovation,” said Tony Hemmelgarn, President & CEO, Siemens Digital Industries Software.

“This award demonstrates how the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio and our comprehensive digital twin technology continues to enable true pioneers and innovators to bring together the physical and digital worlds.

“This is never truer than in the automotive industry as it faces the challenges of electrification, autonomy, and decarbonization.”

Each year, General Motor’s panel selects its Supplier of the Year based on partner performance in selected criteria. These include product purchasing, global purchasing and manufacturing services, customer care and after sales, and logistics.

“We are thrilled to recognize these outstanding suppliers after yet another challenging year in the automotive industry,” said Jeff Morrison, General Motors’ Vice President of Global Purchasing and Supply Chain.

“They overcame countless obstacles and exemplified what it means to be resilient, resourceful and determined.

“Beyond that, these suppliers demonstrated their commitment to sustainable innovation and to driving advanced solutions in collaboration with the GM team.”
