How Visiontron’s innovative solutions shape seamless experiences in public spaces

Crowd control company’? Visiontron prefers ‘People Guidance Pros’. An industry leader with over 60 years of experience and expertise, Visiontron is dedicated to improving the crowd control solutions sector. The company believes that customers and employees deserve proper guidance to navigate clients’ venues and facilities safely and orderly.

From small retail stores to the world’s busiest airports, Visiontron’s exceptional crowd control equipment, including retractable belt stanchion barriers, post and rope stanchions and crowd control barriers, are meticulously designed to enhance people’s experiences. By transforming spaces into organized, stress-free environments, Visiontron’s crowd control solutions elevate any facility.

Established in 1964, with a mission to create innovative and reliable solutions for crowd control, queuing, and signage, in 1992, the business was purchased by the Torsiellos, a dedicated family who brought a fresh vision and passion for craftsmanship, innovation, and customer care. Now in its third generation of family ownership, Visiontron continues to thrive under the same guiding principles of quality and integrity.

“Visiontron produced the original flight information boards, which today are digital monitors, but back then, were static signs that changed mechanically,” Vice President, Bryan Torsiello shares. “While these products are no longer a focus for us, they remain a big reason why our roots are still in the airline and transportation industry. Today, our main products are aimed at guiding guests and employees safely around a space. This could be airports, stadiums or casinos, but basically anywhere people need to be guided. Proper guidance is an integral part of any experience, and we take that very seriously and are always learning and improving.”

What sets Visiontron apart is its relentless focus on quality and customization. Every product the company creates, from its iconic RETRACTA-BELT® stanchions to its custom signage solutions, is designed and manufactured under one roof in its state-of-the-art facility. This vertical integration allows Visiontron to maintain strict quality control, minimize lead times, and ensure every product meets the highest standards.

“We’re always investing in our people and equipment,” Bryan continues, “and we believe in a philosophy of continuous improvement. Whether that means setting up a workspace in a more efficient manner or buying a new piece of equipment, every year, and even every week, we are trying to make improvements, one way or another. In 2022, we moved into our 80,000-square-foot facility, which has facilitated our continuous growth and expansion.

“Last year, we replaced one of our older CNC machines with a Haas VF7 CNC, which increases our travel capacity to 84 inches from our current 50-inch limit on our other machines. As well as improving efficiency and allowing the production of more parts, the addition also increases the range of product sizes we are capable of manufacturing. We are also currently upgrading one of our CNCs to enable fourth-axis machining to reduce setups and enhance how we can design our product. This will help us to easily do things that were once a struggle or required outsourcing.”

At Visiontron, innovation is at the core of everything the company does. Over the years, it has introduced industry-leading features like EVERstraight® Technology and rotary damper brakes, designed to improve the reliability and functionality of its products. Visiontron was also among the pioneers to offer the ten-foot retractable belt stanchion, setting a higher standard for efficiency in queue management.

Many of its most successful solutions have come from close collaborations with its customers. Whether creating a custom baggage sizer for Gridiron Air or designing durable panels that have stood the test of time at JFK Airport, Visiontron works together with clients to provide solutions that truly fit their needs.

“We have close relationships with many of our customers,” Bryan explains. “They often come to us to design solutions to specific challenges. In fact, most of our standard products are the result of collaboration with clients on past projects that we knew other customers could benefit from. We’ve deployed a variety of improvements to our existing product lines, but some of our more interesting and new products are our PowerPod charging stations. These are utilized in public spaces to allow guests to charge their devices while waiting. We’ve also deployed an alarmed door system that Customs and Border Patrol use at airport customs check-ins to secure the US border when stations are closed. Each of these products was specifically designed to do exactly what the clients needed when it wasn’t available on the general market.”

Another exciting and unique recent project was for Netflix’s film Carry-On. The company was tasked with building a realistic TSA checkpoint, incorporating a variety of stanchions, barriers, and signage to ensure the scene was accurate to a real-life scenario. Over the years, Visiontron has accumulated a long list of prestigious clients, including Universal Studios, Disney, and The Venetian Macau, among many other well-respected names in their industries.

Visiontron doesn’t believe in disposable solutions; its products are built to last, with many still in use decades after installation. The company’s upcycling and recycling programs ensure that even at the end of a product’s lifecycle, its components can find new life, reducing waste and supporting sustainability. It’s this commitment to longevity that makes Visiontron a trusted partner for organizations around the globe.

“Listening to our customers and being willing to adapt are the keys to our success,” Bryan adds. “We also strive for sustainable and controlled growth. We’re not looking to enhance numbers to appeal to any investment partners; our family-owned philosophy is to keep things steady so that we remain a successful company for generations to come.

“We are always innovating and listening to our customers’ needs to try to make their experience even better. Right now, our focus is on modernizing our internal data systems,” Bryan concludes. “With the explosion of AI and other technologies, we see this as an area of focus to maintain efficiency in our processes and serve customers better.”
