Naples-based Geven blends Italian craftsmanship with cutting-edge aircraft seating and interiors design
Known for its reliability and professionalism, Geven is one of the aviation industry’s most respected names in the aircraft seating and interiors manufacturing industry. Focusing on the aviation sector, the company is on a mission to continue improving its technological and production capacity by constantly innovating and refining its engineering expertise and industrial process. Geven’s history started several decades ago, when the company entered the aircraft seating market through retrofit programs – this marked the beginning of a steady expansion within the aerospace sector, supported by the company’s ability to meet the industry’s increasingly stringent requirements and deliver consistent quality and performance. Over the years, Geven has strengthened its position through continuous investment in engineering, technology and production capabilities. Headquartered near Naples, the company is now focused on pushing the boundaries of lightweight design and sustainability in a particularly demanding manufacturing environment.

“Geven is an aircraft seating and interior manufacturer based near Naples, Italy, with a history spanning over 42 years. The Veneruso family are the main shareholders and remain actively involved in leading the company, now with the third generation of the family playing a role in its continued growth and development. Geven itself is now the headquarters of a wider holding group, Geven Holding, which encompasses four sister companies based in the same area, including SkyTecno. A new facility is also being established nearby, which will serve as an extension of our current headquarters and house part of the warehouse operation, freeing up space to expand the final assembly line. As part of its international growth strategy, Geven is also investing in a new facility in North America, strengthening its industrial presence and production capabilities in the region. We also have a joint venture in place in Ethiopia between SkyTecno and Ethiopian Airlines, where we mainly produce cabin insulation blankets,” begins Fabiana Ferraro, Marketing and Communications Manager.
Pasquale Rapullini, Sales and Business Development Manager, takes us through Geven’s product range in more detail. “Our core business is aircraft seating. We are now qualified across the main OEM catalogs of Boeing and Airbus, so our products are represented across a very wide range of aircraft types. Originally beginning as an economy class seat manufacturer, our range has since extended to cover economy through to business class, across single-aisle, wide-body and regional aircraft including the ATR. Beyond seating, we also work on monuments, which represent a significant and growing part of the business. For instance, we produce galleys and lavatories, mainly for special military applications, though we have also completed some commercial aviation platform work in the past. There are plans to expand that commercial monuments division further, focused primarily on single-aisle platforms,” he explains.
With such broad capabilities under its belt, Geven has unlocked many noteworthy commercial partnerships. A recent highlight is a new contract with Wizz Air, the Hungarian low-cost airline group, a relationship that carries particular significance, as both companies have grown alongside one another. Equally important is Geven’s collaboration with Lufthansa Group, whose full single-aisle fleet features Geven seats. That relationship is now expanding into Lufthansa’s wide-body fleet and these partnerships demonstrate strong recognition of the quality, reliability and expertise that Geven brings to the aviation industry.
The continued trust placed in the company by leading airlines is a valuable testament to its capabilities and to the long-term relationships it has built with its customers. Another significant recent partnership is with Frontier Airlines, one of the leading ultra-low-cost carriers in the United States. In 2025, Geven was selected to provide the airline with its new First Class seating, marking an important step in Frontier’s strategy to introduce a more premium onboard experience. The new seat, based on Geven’s Comoda platform, has been customized specifically for Frontier and the partnership represents an important milestone for Geven, as Frontier becomes the first US airline to select Geven for its First Class offering.
Geven’s customer portfolio also includes other major international carriers, such as Turkish Airlines, Icelandair and Flyadeal – further demonstrating the company’s ability to serve different airline segments and aircraft platforms across global markets. Alongside these established partnerships, Geven is also developing new programs with additional airlines, including several undisclosed customers. These projects provide a further indication of the company’s growing presence across the global aircraft seating market and the breadth of opportunities currently in its pipeline.

Sustainability has become an increasingly important area of focus for the business, and Geven is actively contributing to this effort through its involvement in RECREATE; a European research project focused on developing innovative recycling and circular reuse solutions for fiber-reinforced composite materials. Geven participates in the project as an industrial partner, working alongside research centers and other industry players to address one of the most challenging aspects of aircraft seat lifecycle management. “Historically, when a seat would reach the end of its service life, it would typically be thrown away. The RECREATE project focuses on changing that. We are working with different research centers to develop new materials with a reversible lifecycle, where a finished part can be broken back down and the raw material reused, either within the aviation industry where standards allow it, or redirected to automotive or civil industries where the specifications are more flexible.
“The most significant work we are doing is on the composite side, which is where the greatest environmental impact occurs from the production scraps right through to the end-of-life part. We are using those scraps to create specialist material compounds that can be used across other industries, incorporating natural fibers as a more ecological alternative to fiberglass or carbon. For the finished parts themselves, we are developing reversible processes that allow large composite components to be broken down into smaller grades. The project is called RECREATE for exactly that reason, because it creates something new from what has already been produced,” Pasquale elaborates.
Beyond the lifecycle of the seat itself, Geven is aware that the aviation industry’s most important environmental impact comes from fuel consumption and the CO2 emissions it causes. With an exponential correlation between the weight of the plane and the amount of fuel it burns, every kilogram saved in the cabin has a disproportionate effect on the amount of fuel an aircraft needs to carry its payload. For Geven, that makes lightweight design not just a commercial selling point but a tangible environmental contribution. By developing lighter seating and monument solutions, and by engineering lightness into the structural elements of those products wherever possible, the company is helping airlines reduce both their operating costs and their emissions simultaneously.
Geven’s journey is one of continuous evolution, from its origins as a family-owned Italian business to its current position as an established global player in aircraft seating and interiors. As the company continues to expand internationally and invest in new markets, its identity remains firmly rooted in Italy. The values traditionally associated with Made in Italy – design, craftsmanship, attention to detail, engineering expertise and a strong commitment to quality – remain an integral part of Geven’s approach to product development and manufacturing. Today, Geven combines this distinctly Italian heritage with a global outlook, bringing together local expertise, international partnerships and continuous innovation to meet the evolving needs of airlines and aircraft manufacturers around the world.
