With an innovative vision, TAMKO remains at the forefront of America’s roofing industry

Since we last spoke with TAMKO Building Products (TAMKO) around 12 months ago, there have been several investments and innovations underway. As the leading provider of ‘America’s shingle,’ TAMKO is well recognized for its rich history, core values, and quality products. In 2024, the business celebrated its 80th anniversary – a milestone achieved via three generations of dedicated family leadership and continued investment. We catch up with COO Jeffrey Beyer for an update on the last year or so, as well as plans for the company’s future.

a meeting with a real estate agent or property professional, discussing a property“It’s been a transformative and fast-paced year at TAMKO, driven by our ongoing mission to support the success of residential roofing contractors,” Jeffrey opens.

“We’ve made significant investments in teams, tools, and technologies that help contractors grow their businesses and help protect America’s homes. A major part of this investment has been the development of dedicated departments focused exclusively on contractor engagement and support. We’ve also added a Director of Contractor Engagement and established a department to provide white-glove service to our top-tier contractors.

“We’ve also continued to expand our TAMKO® Tech Stack, a suite of digital and marketing tools designed to improve efficiency for contractors. These include solutions that streamline project registration, enhance homeowner presentations, and deliver real-time access to promotional tools and assets. It’s all part of our broader strategy to empower contractors with the technology, training, and resources they need to succeed.”

Alongside these investments, TAMKO has seen strong market adoption of its ProLine® products, especially Titan XT® and StormFighter FLEX® shingles.

“We’ve made strategic expansions to our ProLine® manufacturing capabilities, ensuring contractors have access to the products they need, when they need them,” Jeffrey elaborates.

“On the operations side, we’ve implemented new AI and machine learning tools in our manufacturing processes, enhancing our ability to make real-time, data-driven decisions that reduce variation and improve quality.”

Testament to the advanced technologies and field-proven performance of the StormFighter FLEX® and Titan XT® shingles, both innovations were recognized by Kantar, from a survey of 40,000 consumers, as Product of the Year for 2025 in the Home Solutions category and 2024 in the Home Protection category, respectively.

“These shingles are award-winning because they combine advanced technologies that meet real-world performance needs,” Jeffrey says.

“We design our products to perform under extreme conditions to protect homeowners while also making the installation process faster, easier, and more reliable for contractors. When you combine those two factors, it’s easy to see why these shingles earn recognition; they truly redefine what’s possible in asphalt roofing.

“What sets these products apart starts with their foundation – our proprietary TriShield™ Technology, which serves as the driving force behind the performance characteristics built into every shingle. This system is engineered specifically to enhance the strength, durability, and long-term weathering capabilities of the shingle. Building on the strength of the TriShield™ Technology, Titan XT® shingles deliver enhanced performance with an industry-leading wind warranty of up to 160mph. Titan shingles feature an expanded nailing zone, 500 percent wider than our standard laminates, and an innovative AnchorLock™ Layer that simplifies installation and improves fastening accuracy. Coupled with a Class 3 impact rating, Titan XT® shingles give contractors confidence in extreme wind zones and deliver peace of mind to homeowners.”

Indeed, contractors and homeowners across the country have shared how the Titan XT® shingle has proven its strength in real-world storm conditions. In Galveston, Texas, for instance, a multifamily building roofed with Titan XT® shingles remained completely intact during Hurricane Nicholas, while surrounding structures experienced shingle loss. The StormFighter FLEX® shingle takes the Titan XT® shingle framework even further by integrating TAMKO’s proprietary ForceFX® Technology, delivering exceptional flexibility, enhanced durability, and the industry’s highest impact rating (Class 4), making it an ideal solution for regions that face severe weather challenges.

Aimed at contractors, the company has recently relaunched The TAMKO Edge® Contractor Program. “This has been a major initiative for us, and we’re excited by the enhancements we’ve made to create a more rewarding, streamlined, and supportive experience for those who choose TAMKO,” Jeffrey confirms.

“The TAMKO Edge® program is built to help contractors grow their business, strengthen their reputation, and deliver exceptional service to homeowners. From priority access to high-performance products to marketing support, rewards, and industry leading warranties, the program is designed to add real value at every stage of the contractor’s journey.

“For customers, this relaunch means greater peace of mind. When homeowners choose a TAMKO® Certified Contractor, they’re not only getting some of the best contractors in the industry, but someone who is certified by the manufacturer,” he adds.

“The program provides contractors with the tools and knowledge to install our products to the highest standards, helping promote better protection, long-term performance, and a more satisfying experience for homeowners.”

In terms of sustainability, TAMKO maintains a strong partnership with Northstar Clean Technologies (Northstar), a waste-to-value clean technology manufacturing company focused on the sustainable recovery and reprocessing of asphalt shingles.

“Northstar has developed a proprietary process for taking discarded shingles that would have gone into landfills and reprocesses the shingles into raw materials for use in new shingles and other industrial applications,” Jeffrey explains.

“Our relationship with Northstar not only helps TAMKO make more sustainable shingles but also diversifies and adds resilience to our supply chain by diverting shingles from landfills. Northstar is planning to build its first US facility that will serve our site in Frederick, Maryland, and over the next three years, we expect Northstar to have several US facilities serving other TAMKO plants.”

As our conversation closes, Jeffrey turns his attention to what’s next for TAMKO. “We’re entering the next chapter of our growth with a clear vision, a commitment to continuous improvement, and momentum that’s been built through strategic investments, product innovation, and deepened contractor relationships,” he states.

“Our focus remains on driving growth through smart expansion, both in terms of manufacturing capabilities and market reach, while continuing to support the professionals who choose TAMKO every day. With the growing success of our ProLine® products and the ongoing evolution of The TAMKO Edge® program, we’re well-positioned to deliver even more value to contractors and homeowners alike.

“Our longer-term vision is centered around continuous growth, innovation, and leadership in the industry, and we see TAMKO not just as a manufacturer but as a solutions-driven partner. Our commitment to expanding our portfolio with next-generation roofing products that improve performance, durability, and ease of installation will remain at the heart of what we do. Equally, we constantly strive to elevate the end-to-end customer experience through technology, AI, logistics, training, and support services.

“We envision TAMKO as a brand synonymous with trust, quality, and forward-thinking solutions; we want to be the trusted manufacturer of choice by both contractors and homeowners alike,” Jeffrey concludes.

“We’ve built TAMKO on a foundation of honesty, integrity, a collaborative culture, and a genuine commitment to the people we serve. As we evolve, we’ll stay true to our heritage as a family-owned, American based manufacturer. TAMKO is proud to be America’s Shingle®, and we’re honored to carry forward a legacy of excellence, integrity, and innovation as we help build the roofs and relationships of tomorrow.”
