Würth Industry is further enhancing its comprehensive offering of inventory management solutions and high-quality product lines
Part of the Würth Group, Würth Industry North America is a leading supplier of production material like fasteners, safety, MRO, and metalworking products in the US. Established in 1945, the Würth Group, the world’s largest industrial distributor, currently comprises over 400 companies and employs more than 88,000 people as of 2024, with a leading presence in multiple different industries around the globe.
With a national footprint, Würth Industry provides expertise in inventory management and supply of industrial and construction components, delivering the right products at the right time, the right place, the right quality, and the right price to customers.
As the company expands its position in the US, we sit down with Bastian Rottenberg, CEO of Würth Industry’s MRO, Safety, and Metalworking business unit, to learn more. “We’re on an exciting journey. Founded on decades of product and application expertise in the safety and metalworking field, we have also established ourselves as a solutions provider that drives value creation for our customers and partners,” Bastian opens. “We offer a comprehensive service and solution program, taking time to understand each customer’s requirements and specific applications, to ensure we provide the most effective options. It is a modular approach, highly flexible and still standardized at its core for cost efficiencies. We’re experiencing significant growth for this service, having become a value-add partner rather than simply providing products.”
Elaborating on the company’s extensive product portfolio, he continues: “On the fastener side of the business, we provide all kinds of nuts and bolts, which typically go into industrial manufacturing applications, and ultimately into consumer products – think of lawn mowers, golf carts, washer-dryers, and many more. In terms of safety supplies, we offer a full range of personal protective equipment. We ensure that our customers’ employees have all gear at their disposal to stay healthy in challenging work environments. In addition to that, we are supplying our customers with any consumable they might need in their production process – and beyond, for maintenance and repair operations, service technicians and other applications in the field. We consequently pair all our product offerings with tailored physical and digital solutions to streamline our customers’ supply chain, ensure product availability and give them full visibility and control over their spend.”
As part of its expansion journey across North America, Würth Industry has invested substantially over the years in creating a reliable distribution network, a commitment to enabling faster service, further increasing product availability, and delivering best in class processes for its customers nationwide.
“We recently acquired a 472,000-square-foot facility in Columbus, Ohio. This $42-million investment offers us a strategic advantage for expansion, with a central location, infrastructure, and access to skilled workforce,” Bastian confirms.
“Beyond this, there is 500,000 square feet of expansion space which we plan to build onto, as either extra distribution or office space, as we outgrow the existing space. We’re excited about what the Columbus, Ohio area offers us, especially given that it’s a university town with access to a great labor market and talented individuals that have recently graduated. Most importantly, for our customers, this means further improvements to our service levels, as well as additional breadth and depth in our standard product range.”
Commenting on the company’s relationship with the wider Würth Group, Bastian adds: “We’re truly a family-run business with a flat hierarchy and open lines of communication, which makes a strategic investment decision like the one in Columbus possible on a short turnaround. Moreso than short term KPIs, we are focused on developing and executing longer-term strategies, looking at the next four-to-five years rather than the next quarter. As part of the Würth Group’s core philosophy of putting customers at the heart of everything we do, the Würth Group is committed to continuous investments, driving partnership, growth, and success for customer and employees alike. Curiosity is a core value of our business, always on the lookout for what might be the next big thing for our customers.”
Rooted in quality and innovation, Würth Industry is defining what it means to be a trusted partner to its customers. As the company moves beyond products to offer complete solutions, backed by the Würth Group, Würth Industry will undoubtedly continue to grow and thrive across North America.
“For the rest of 2025, we will continue to enhance our distribution network and ensure our operations in Columbus run seamlessly for our customers,” Bastian concludes. “We’re always engaging with new customers and exploring other industries to fuel further growth. Lastly, we have new additional service offerings for release in our pipeline for both new and existing customers, and we’re constantly assessing and evolving our core assortment to ensure we’re providing the most relevant and valuable products for our customers. Our founder Professor Reinhold Würth once coined the phrase that he has always been curious about what he’ll find behind the next curve in the path and the next mountain. This curiosity and entrepreneurship are ingrained in who we are and how we work with our partners. Therefore, as we look into the future, our goal is to continuously excite customers and exceed their expectations.”
